About this Natural Area
Casa da Trigueira is an interesting scenic route along the Ribeiro da Ôla, the Ôla brook, which passes several small waterfalls as the brook approaches the mouth of the Tinhela river. The legend of the route concerns a young woman. It is said that one night a young woman disappeared from her home in Santa Eugenia. Her parents looked for her everywhere, but it wasn't until the end of the day when a shepherd passing by the second waterfall with his flock found the woman sitting on an alder trunk overlooking the brook, and spinning on a spinning wheel.
Leisure opportunities available
The route can be toured on foot, preferably with someone who is familiar with it. Visitors will enjoy the sounds of falling water and chirping birds, the freshness of the trees, and observing varied species of flora and fauna. The route winds through a beautiful landscape, and is a cultural journey through the land of the Douro region.
