Beauty of the landscape: Due to its location at a high altitude, 750 meters (2461 feet), this viewpoint enjoys a huge range of vision. The landscape is considerably different from the typical landscape that you would see in Douro. This viewpoint, instead of being located on steep slopes (as the banks of the Douro), is located on flatter terrain (highlands) where you can enjoy extremely beautiful views of the landscape.
Geological elements of the landscape: The viewpoint is located in a transition zone between granite formations and schistose rocks so you can see some elements of these formations. Also, you can see elements of the formations of Pinhão and S. Domingos rivers (quartz and polymictic conglomerates).
Identification and description of the mountains: On a clear day you can see the Marão Mountains.
Description of fauna: wild rabbit (Oryctolagus cuniculus), hedgehog (Erinaceus europaeus), least weasel (Mustela nivalis), wildcat (Felis silvestris), and boar (Sus scrofa). The birds that can be observed in this zone are: black kite (Milvus migrans), eagle-winged round (Buteo buteo), black stork (Ciconia nigra), lesser spotted woodpecker (Dendrocopos minor), and peregrine falcon (Falco peregrinus).
Description of flora: The viewpoint and its surrounding area are marked by the existence of dense populations of pines and cedars. In the countryside, vines are the most prominent plants as well as olive trees. However, chestnut trees are also present, announcing the proximity of the highlands of Trás-os-montes.
